ART
KALAAVITHI is an open courtyard to all forms of ART Painting .. Sculpture .. Literature .. Music .. Theater.. Film....
We create different art pieces in different mediums.
We offer a platform for PAINTINGS, SCULPTURE, CRAFT, MUSIC, FILMS, LITERATURE.
We offer courses as well as workshops for all these art forms. We use natural resources to make the art more sensitive towards the nature.
ARCHITECTURE
We propose to step forward with rich heritage of vernacular architecture of India and to build back the culture with sustainable solutions.
We build architecture which could bring us a little close to the environment. We encompass vernacular and traditional building methods in our design by which we could preserve the fading culture of our India and come up with the solutions those cater todays needs.
We fitfully use materials which would not harm the mother earth, we try to minimize the waste production while shaping our built form.
Some of our design proposals put forward locally available natural materials like straw, soil, thatch, stone (without harming the nature).
TRAVEL
We wander around with people from places to places and witness all the untold stories while capturing it through their own lenses.
We travel to heritage places, rural localities, tribal areas, farms, art communities and many more…
All over the journey we capture art, architecture, communities and embrace design techniques. We travel and learn how to sustain the culture at different places throughout the eras.
We are open to travel with people with all educational – non educational backgrounds, We offer travel workshops as well.
STORIES
India has the tradition of आज्जीच्या गोष्टी(Grandma’s Stories), which allows people to experience the different lives through imagination, likewise our courtyard is a people’s archive transmitting the values, culture and experiences from one individual or community to the next.
While making ART, ARCHITECTURE and TRAVELING we come across plenty of events and people with a wide variation of backgrounds. Thus we record all those occurring episodes and make stories out of it.
Our story making gears up with case studies, researches, documentations and winds up with written stories, sketch series or movie creations.
